Italy is set to sign an agreement with Ukraine and the United Nations’ cultural agency, UNESCO, to rebuild the city of Odesa and its Transfiguration Cathedral, heavily damaged in a Russian missile attack.
The cathedral was damaged during an attack on the southern port city of Odesa last July, and while Ukraine blames Russia for the strike, Russia has denied responsibility.
The announcement came from Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on Wednesday.
Tajani said the signing ceremony would take place on May 15 in Rome, with Italy committing to work alongside UNESCO to restore the cathedral and other parts of Odesa.
