The Islamic State (IS) jihadist group has claimed responsibility for the devastating attack on a concert hall in a Moscow suburb, stating that four of its militants carried out the assault. Russian authorities reported that the death toll from the attack has risen to 133 people.
In a statement released on one of its Telegram channels, the Islamic group asserted that the attack was orchestrated by four of its fighters armed with machine guns, a pistol, knives, and firebombs.
The militant group declared that the assault was part of its ongoing conflict with countries it perceives as enemies of Islam, claiming that the attackers targeted “dozens of Christians” in the rampage.
The Kremlin has not yet responded to IS’s claim of responsibility, but Russian officials announced the arrest of 11 individuals, including four terrorists involved in the attack. While Russian authorities have suggested possible links to Ukraine, Kyiv has dismissed these claims as “absurd.”
