A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory has adjourned the alleged procurement fraud case involving former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele.
The court adjourned the trial to January 18th and 19th, 2024 for continuation of trial as Emefiele is standing trial on a six count amended charge on alleged procurement of vehicles to the tune of one point six billion naira, to which he has pleaded not guilty.
The former apex bank governor was granted bail on November 17th to the tune of three hundred million naira and two sureties while he was remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre, pending when his bail conditions have been satisfied.
At the resumed hearing, the Prosecution Witness, who is a top official of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) told the court that the Emefiele was not the owner or a shareholder of the “April1616 Investment Limited” which was awarded the one point two billion naira vehicle supply contract by the CBN under Emefiele.
The Witness tendered several documents which showed the incorporation of the company on August 1, 2016, before reading out names of the shareholders which comprises Aminu Yaro, Maryam Abdullahi and Saadatu Yaro as joint owners of the entity.
