A former Special Adviser and Commissioner in Kwara State, Alh Musa Abdullahi has praised President Muhammadu Buhari for his efforts to detach women from poverty and improve their standard of living.
Alhaji Musa Abdullahi spoke on Wednesday during a program tagged Bi-annual Award To Men Who Have Become Gender Champions. The event was to appreciate men who have supported women and make it serve as encouragement for others.
It was organized by Nuhu Fatimoh, NUFAT foundation, sponsored by Global Affairs Canada and ActionAids Nigeria.
The former commissioner, who was one of the award recipients commended the decision of the President to create two ministries (Ministry of Women Affairs and Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs) that provides programs to lift women from poverty.
He described the program as a remarkable one and appreciated the organizer, for their efforts to recognize men’s impact in the society.
Also speaking, the CEO of NUFAT Foundation, Dr. Asiat Ayinke Saka, said that the NGO is advocating for women to lead, participate in politics, and be able to make decisions.
She noted that for the women project to succeed, men have to be informed, understand that women need their support, and encouragement to make it.
Ayinke Saka, also a former Commissioner, advised young girls in tertiary institutions to fight to realize their potentials and not subject themselves to sexual harassment as being witnessed in the society today.
