The Federal High Court, Abuja on Monday nullified the eight hundred billion naira 2024 budget signed into law by the Rivers State Governor, Simi Fubara.
The governor had in December, presented the Appropriation Bill to a faction of the state House of Assembly, comprising four lawmakers which was subsequently signed into law following its passage by the lawmakers.
The Rivers Assembly, however, became factionalised following a move by twenty-seven lawmakers loyal to ex-governor Nyesom Wike to impeach Fubara.
The presiding judge, James Omotosho, on Monday held that everything done by the four lawmakers was null and void.
The court also recognised Martin Amaewhule as the speaker of the state assembly.
