The Federal Government has advised state governments to prepare against floods following an increase in the volume of flow along River Benue.
Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof Joseph Utsev, and the Minister of State for Water Resources and Sanitation, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, disclosed this at a press briefing in Abuja on Saturday.
The Minister added that the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency has maintained a professional relationship with its sister agency in Cameroon, urging the government at the state and local level to construct drainage to prevent flooding.
He further stated that it was important for states to prepare since the country was already witnessing heavy rainfall
