Following the tragic event of a ship collision at Francis Scott Key Bridge in the United States City of Baltimore, Search divers are expected to return to Baltimore Port to search the waters where the Key Bridge collapsed, where six workers are still missing and presumed dead.
Maryland police on Tuesday said that they are moving from a search and rescue operation to a recovery operation to recover those four missing people left.
The container ship, which is now lodged in debris from the Francis Scott Key Bridge, encountered a “power issue” and issued a distress call moments before the collision, officials reported. However, due to its speed, the vessel was unable to alter its course.
However, Governor Moore assured that the bridge will be reconstructed “in a way that remembers the people this tragedy has impacted.” President Biden pledged full federal support for the reconstruction efforts, promising to cover the “entire cost” of rebuilding the bridge and restoring functionality to the port.
