Fifteen inmates serving various jail terms at four Custodial Centres in Kwara State have been set free with the federal government paying the fines of thirteen while the chief judge of Kwara State, Justice Abiodun Adewara, freed two others.
The release was effected when the Justice Reform Sector Committee led by the chief judge, alongside with other relevant stakeholders in the Criminal Justice Administration, visited the Old Ilorin Custodial Centre, Okekura, Ilorin, the state capital.
The chief judge Adewara, said the essence of the exercise was to decongest the correctional facilities.
Adewara thanked the officers and men of the Correctional Service and other relevant partners, who participated in the exercise while urging the freed inmates to be of good conduct
