The 2023 presidential election candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi on Monday in Abuja, accepted the judgment of the Supreme Court which affirmed the election of President Bola Tinubu.
Obi, however, said the judgment would not signify the end of the “Obidient” movement and said that while the legal battle was over, the Labour Party was now in opposition and his resolve for a new Nigeria was still intact.
It would be recalled that the Supreme Court on September 26, upheld the September 6 judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal affirming the declaration of Tinubu as duly elected president, dismissing the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Atiku Abubakar, who came second in the election, and Obi who came third.
Obi said that the party would go through a rebuilding process in the coming months which will see it become stronger and build youth.
Obi said: “In the coming months we will build the party, we will make it stronger. We will build those young people. We will come out stronger and more committed to a new Nigeria.
The future is dynamic. Our focus now is to ensure that we do the right thing for the benefit of Nigeria.”
