Belgium’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Sweden was abandoned at half-time due to security reasons after two Swedish people were shot dead in Brussels.
The killings occurred hours before the match began. Fans and players were ordered to stay in the King Baudouin Stadium for their safety, with the gunman still at large.
The game was tied at 1-1 when it was abandoned, and Sweden captain Victor Lindelof said there was no reason to replay the game, as Belgium already qualified. He said, “Belgium are already qualified and we don’t have the opportunity to get to the European Championship, so I see no reason to [replay the game].”
