The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Usman Akali Baba, is ordering the state commissioners of police to deploy police personnel and operational assets to flashpoints within areas of their responsibilities across the federation.
Baba also charged supervising zonal Assistant Inspectors-General of Police with intensive and proactive visibility patrol at all worship centers, train stations, highways, motor parks, airports, waterways, recreation centers, banks and other financial institutions.
Further, the IGP said necessary precautions should be exercised to ensure a crime-free and peaceful environment for religious, cultural and other socio-economic activities meant to boost the general public’s confidence.
Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja, added that in-depth security checks and patrols of all public spaces and essential government assets should be maintained.
However, the police boss has directed that all officers and men deployed for these duties must be adequately supervised to ensure professional and courteousness to law-abiding citizens but firm and ruthless to criminal elements with plans to perpetuate insecurity this Easter celebration.
