Ninety-eight students out of the two hundred and seventy-six of Government Girls’ Secondary School Chibok of Borno State abducted by Boko Haram terrorists on April 14, 2014, are said to be in captivity.
The head of the Intelligence Unit of the Joint Military Task Force in the North East Operation Hadinkai, Colonel Obinna Ezuipke, disclosed this while briefing newsmen at its headquarters, Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri.
Giving details of the rescued girls, Ezuipke stated that fifty-seven girls escaped in 2014 while one hundred and seven girls were released in 2018, three girls were recovered in 2019, two in 2021 and nine were rescued in 2022, bringing the total of one hundred and seventy-eight girls out of captivity and 98 remaining in Boko Haram captivity.
Speaking on the statistics of the activities of the troops of Operation Hadinkai, Colonel Ezuipke disclosed that a total of forty-three terrorists have been neutralized, while twenty-four others were arrested by the troops in August.
Ezuipke revealed that the military recorded twenty-six attacks from the terrorists, and in the process, two soldiers were killed and nine others sustained various degrees of injury. He added that the military carried out a total of two thousand, seven hundred and twenty-six patrols and nine hundred and eighty-two ambushes against the terrorists.
