A Federal High Court in Abuja this morning admitted embattled Senator Rochas Okorocha to bail in the sum of N500 million with one surety in like sum.
Justice Inyang Ekwo, in a ruling, said granting bail is a discretionary power of the court.
Justice Ekwo said the surety, who must have a landed property within the jurisdiction of the court, must deposit the Certificate of Occupancy of the verified property with the registry of the court.
The judge, while admitting the senator to bail with a cautionary statement, ordered that his international passport be deposited in the registry of the court.
The judge adjourned the matter until November 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11 for trial.
In the same vein ,Senator Rochas Okorocha, had described as false the report that he had sued the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and demanded one billion naira damages over the invasion of his home in Abuja by the operatives of Economic and Finance Crimes Commission last week.
The ex-governor also denied the claim that he had briefed five Senior Advocates of Nigeria to commence legal action against the Federal Government.
Okorocha in a statement issued in Owerri by his spokesperson, Sam Omwuemeodo, informed that he had no reason to sue the AGF as his office was not the involved in the home invasion nor took him to court.
The statement informed that Okorocha and his lawyers were more concerned about ensuring that the ex-governor, who currently represents Imo West in the Senate, regains his freedom as soon as possible.
