Our attention has been drawn to false claims made by
The All Progressive Congress, APC, has faulted the claim by a group in Ajikobi ward, alleging that Hon Abdulgafar Ayinla Ayilara, representing Ajikobi/Alanamu constituency of Ilorin West at the Kwara State House of Assembly, KWHA, has nothing to show for the two years in the House.
The statement was signed by the APC Treasurer in Ilorin West Local Government Area, Ibrahim Abdulwasiu in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital on Thursday.
The Statement reads:
“Whereas the pedestrian comments by the footloose who are desperate to impress their political lords do not deserve to be honored with a response from any quarter, it is important to put records straight before the public following the undue amplification of the untruth by some tabloids and on the social media.
It is important to state for record purposes that all the allegations against Honorable Ayilara are not only misleading but also mischievous.
The claims by the Peoples Vanguard, that Honourable Ayilara has nothing to show for his two years in office, describing it as a total waste, elicits great intellectual provocation, and we would never condescend so low to give false claims of stewardship.
Hon Ayilara has empowered 275 constituents with cash worth three million naira cash In 2020. 100 JAMB forms were also procured for secondary school leavers to enhance their quest for tertiary education.
Importantly, in his first year, he organized a health program that provided free consultancy services and drugs for ailments such as malaria, diabetes, eye surgery, and treatment.
The assertion that Ayilara has not been responsive and not representing his constituency responsively is watery. The bulk of the party faithful is not the hungry birds but the vast majority of voters. Maybe we need to remind them that Ayilara had majority votes in all the wards of his constituency and as such, he knows the relevance of responsive representation and has always been in contact with his constituents.
If the legendary singer, Bob Marley’s words hold any truth. “You can fool some of the people sometimes, but you can’t fool all the people all the time,” the reggae star once sang. Questions will be asked at the appropriate time, and steps will be taken to assert the people’s will.
While we urge the reading public to disregard the false story been peddled by these mischievous elements whose sponsors have always resorted to obsolete tactics of employing lies and blackmail to hunt down political opponents.
The originators of this series of lies seek to achieve one goal; to impugn the integrity of Hon Ayilara and whittle down his support and political base which God has built for him as he remains the best in constituency’s history.”
