The Kwara Likeminds Front has described the constitution of Transition Implementation Committee (TIC) by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq as a setback for local government administration in the state.
The leader of Kwara Likeminds Front (KLF), a coalition of political parties in Kwara State, Prophet Maxwell Kolawole in a statement issued on Sunday, said the administration of local government under the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration is no different from what was applicable under the past administrations which many castigated and rejected.
Kolawole who is also the Kwara State Chairman of Democratic People’s Party (DPP) observed that appointing Transition committee in 16 local government areas two years into Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq administration will not bring meaningful and desired development to the grassroots.
The group questioned the lip service of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq towards local government autonomy, urging him to follow path of honor by obeying court order on dissolved Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC) and empower them to conduct credible council polls in line with the 1999 Constitutional provisions.
They also charge Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to appoint new commissioners, noting running one-man show will not help the state.
Recall that Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq dissolved his one-year-old cabinet on December 29, 2020 and he is yet to appoint commissioners to head the state ministries for efficient performance.
