Two people have reportedly died and many others injured in a three hours robbery attack in Gwaraka community in Tafa Local government area of Niger state.
The armed Robbers were said to have stormed the community in the early hours of today at about 3 am. According to reports, they raided house to house beating and robbing the people.
The Speaker of the Niger state House of Assembly, Honorable Abdullahi Bawa Wuse disclosed this when he received the Niger state Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), George Uwem Edem at the state House of Assembly in Minna. Adding that the affected community is part of his constituency and that he was called by the people after the robbers had gone.
Wuse said that he was informed about the robbery by the people and was told that the robbers began the operation from 3 am and that two people were killed in the process.
The Speaker also lamented the lack of security in the community stating that in the raid of over three hours, no security was at hand to help the community adding that lack of police station in the community is not fair. He said that even the outstation have only two policewomen.
Wuse who lamented on the recent killings in the state bemoaned the security situation in the state stressing in the need for security agencies to put in their best and assist the state to curb the rising insecurities.
Efforts were made to get the Niger state Police command to confirm the incidence as at the time of filing this report but the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Muhammad in response to several calls and text messages sent to him replied that he will get back to the press soon.
