Super Falcons lost three-one to ASEC Mimosas Under-sixteen Boys in a tune-up friendly on Friday in Abidjan, in preparation for the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup Of Nations tournament in Ghana. It was the Super Falcons’ second pre-AWCON friendly defeat.
Asisat Oshoala’s first-half strike for the Super Falcons turned out the consolation goal in the 3-1 friendly match. The defeat for the Super Falcons comes eight days after the eight-time African Women’s Champions lost three-two to Dominion Hotspur in their first friendly during their camping in Epe.
Thomas Dennerby’s side will be hoping to pick up the pieces and end their Abidjan camping on the high in the final warm-up game on Sunday against a yet to be named opponent. The Super Falcons will take on South Africa’s Banyana Banyana in their opening group B game. They will also face Zambia and Equatorial Guinea as they bid for a ninth continental title out of 11 championships.
