The Saudi crown prince has vowed to punish all the “culprits” responsible for the murder of writer Jamal Khashoggi in Turkey.Speaking at a business forum in Riyadh today, Mohammed bin Salman saidthat the killing was “a heinous crime that cannot be justified” adding that it was painful to all Saudis.
He also insisted that good working relations between Saudi Arabia and Turkey would not suffer as a result of the situation.
Khashoggi died during a 2 October visit to the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. After weeks of repeated denials that it had anything to do with his disappearance, the kingdom has said the fifty-nine-year-old died in a “fist-fight” inside the consulate, without disclosing the whereabouts of his body.
Reports however gathered yesterday that Khashoggi’s body parts have been found in the garden of the Saudi consul general’s home. Many world leaders have condemned the murder of the prominent Saudi critic and demanded a full investigation.
