Acting President Yemi Osinbajo on Monday met with security chiefs and the Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima over the situation in Bama.
The meeting of the Bama Initiative (Reconstruction and Rehabilitation of North-East) was held behind closed door inside Osinbajo’s office at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Those at the meeting included the Chief of Defence Staff; the Chief of Army Staff; the Chief of Air Staff; the National Security Adviser; and Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali.
Shettima told State House correspondents that the meeting was held to exchange ideas on the rebuilding of the North-East.
He said: “The scheme, which would start in Bama, would be replicated in all parts of the devastated North-East.
“If you juxtapose the sorry state of affairs two years ago with the current state of affairs, there is cause for celebration to me personally. Even these suicide bombings are signs of weakness on the part of the Boko Haram sect. Two years ago, they were holding on to 22 out of 27 local government areas.”
