The leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the Northern region has said the proposed bill to establish Christian courts will incite religious crisis in the country.
The Public Relations Officer of the association, Rev. John Hayab made this know in Kaduna.
Hayab said the lawmakers should make laws that will unite Nigerians rather than those that will further divide them.
“This Christian Courts Bill cannot help us because we care that is why we are voicing it out.
“This thing is not really what Nigerians want now,”.
He reminded the lawmakers to also note that the traditional religion worshippers were entitled to rights of worship as enshrined in the constitution, adding that “what if they wake up tomorrow and demand that there must be court for the ‘pagans?’”
He urged the lawmakers to propose bills that will lead to a better living condition for Nigerians.
