As Nigeria joined the rest of the world in celebrating 2016 World Hepatitis day, the kwara state chapter of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), has called on Federal and states Government to increase funding for treatment and prevention of Hepatitis.
This call was contained in a statement signed and made available to Royal FM by the state NMA Chairman of Doctor Kunle Olawepo in commemorating the 2016 World Hepatitis day
While noting that the provision of more fund for Hepatitis treatment would allow victims have access to better treatment and prevention, NMA pledged to further embark on Public Enlightenment campaign in Print and Electronic media in a to prevent the spreads of the disease.
The Association however advised Nigerians against sharing razors, shavers and toothbrushes, adding that all needles and sharp instruments must be sterilised in trado-medical procedures before use.
The Nigeria Medical Association also called for avoidance of unprotected sex and multiple sexual partners in a bid to guide against diseases.
