The National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas (NUPENG), and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), have called off their strike with immediate effect.
Both union leaders agreed to call off the strike after an all night meeting with the Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and the Minister of State for Petroleum, Mr Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu.
The bodies embarked on strike early on Wednesday, following the restructuring of the NNPC in which the establishment was unbundled into seven units.
The meeting which lasted till this morning, according to the Head of PENGASSAN, Saleh Abdullahi has resolved some of the issues being agitated for by the workers. He said that the strike has thus been called off with immediate effect.
