Israeli officials confirmed that about eight people sustained injuries after a gunman opened fire on a bus near the Western Wall in Jerusalem’s Old City.
It was gathered that, the suspect opened fire as the pilgrims were returning from prayers at the holy site, leaving two people, including a pregnant woman in a critical condition.
According to report from newsmen in Jerusalem, the pregnant woman was shot in the stomach and had an emergency Caesarean operation, with the baby reported to be in a serious, but stable, condition.
The gunman, who is believed to be a Palestinian resident of East Jerusalem, was reported to have fled immediately after the incident but surrendered himself later.
In his remarks, Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid pledged that anyone involved in the attack will pay the price for harming the citizens of Israel.
