The World Health Organization has announced that three trial vaccines for Ebola will arrive in Uganda next week. The announcement was made during the G20 meeting in Indonesia on Wednesday.
WHO Director-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus , who made the announcement said the WHO has evaluated three candidate vaccines and agreed that all three should be included in the planned trial in Uganda.
WHO and Uganda’s minister of health has conceded and accepted the committee’s recommendation and expect the first dose of vaccines to be shipped to Uganda next week.
In his remarks, the WHO health emergencies director, Michael Ryan said the epidemic is controllable without vaccines but says with an effective vaccine the epidemic can be controlled faster.
Two of the three trial vaccines were developed in the United Kingdom, the third trial vaccine comes from the United States.
