National League of Veteran Journalists (NALVEJ), Kwara State chapter on Wednesday, organised a reception in honour of three members of the league, who recently bagged Fellowship of Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
The reception opened up with prayers and goodwill messages from veterans of the fourth estate of the realm, who are also members of NALVEJ and colleagues to the awardees.
Chairman of NALVEJ, Kwara State- Alh. Tunde AKANBI appreciated the contributions of the Fellows, imploring them to do more for society and ceased the occasion to charge younger journalists to be more professional in their reportage.
Alh. AKANBI noted that a good name should be the focus in the profession as against the unending quest for money and fame.
He also said that he urge upcoming journalists to try to do good at all times.
Special Adviser to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Political Communication- Bashir ADIGUN, who is also a veteran journalist expressed his joy with the celebrants who to him are worthy ambassadors of the State.
Meanwhile, the reception was in honour of Special Adviser on Strategy to Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Alhaji Saadu Salahu; a one-time commissioner for Information in the state- Oloriewe AbdulRaeem Adedoyin; and Dr (Mrs) Saudat AbdulBaki, an associate Professor at the Department of Mass Communications, University of Ilorin.
Dr. (Mrs.) AbdulBaki who was represented by her daughter on her part expressed gratitude to the league of veterans for the honor.
She said that she’ll like to appreciate the organizers of the event.
Alhaji Salahu, who also spoke with great gratitude, made reference to how he started his journey into journalism; harped on the need to keep the virtue of integrity and truthfulness for a better society.
The special Adviser to the governor on Strategy also made special accolades to the state Governor and Dr. (Mrs.) Saudat who is the Chairperson NIPR Kwara State, for the encouragement and support given before the fellowship.
On his part, Oloriewe AbdulRaeem Adedoyin who is in New York for a world Congress sent his hearty regards to the veterans through the General Manager, Kwara State Printing Corporation and Publishers of the Herald Newspapers, Mr. Yomi Adeboye
The celebrants however, collectively expressed gratitude to NALVEJ with reassurance to always remember the contributions of the association to their growth in the industry.
