The Chief Medical Director of the University of Ilorin Teaching hospital says the medical equipment received by the hospital will go a long way to improve the delivery of healthcare services to the people and relieve the hospital management of some financial burdens .
Professor Abdullahi Yusuf,Chief Medical Director, University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital stated this while taking delivery of medical equipment facilitated by Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) .
While thanking the JAMB registrar for his kind gesture, Yussuf said” This is a novel and noble idea capable of helping the Nigerian masses. This is a happy event for me and the hospital. We are very happy to have it as the very first hospital to receive the equipment and to be commissioned among the 12 benefitting institutions.”
In his remarks , JAMB Registrar Professor Isiaq Oloyede explained that the equipment were donated by a grant agency in the United States of America called Project-Commission on Urgent Relief and Equipment |Project C.U.R.E|.
At the formal presentation of the medical equipment, Oloyede clarified that the donation was as a result of partnership between JAMB and the foreign donor, Project C.U.R.E., which supplies free quality medical equipment to needy facilities across the globe.
Professor Oloyede said the drive for JAMB to contribute its quota to address the deficit in the nation’s health sector motivated it to enter into such partnership.
The equipment donated to UITH includes Ventilator, consumables, Mattress, gynecology chair, treatment table, treadmill machine, crutches, ICU beds, urinary catheters, among others .
