UNILORIN VC, Abdulkareem decries spate of drug abuse among youth

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Sulyman Age-Abdulkareem, has lamented the rising cases of drug abuse among youths in the country, saying that the prevailing ugly trend has exposed the youths to negative tendencies.

Abdulkareem, who urged parents and guardians to train their wards on character development said the neglect of such is the reason for the prevalent drug abuse among the youth. He noted that both Muslim and Christian youths are getting involved into drug consumption.

Also speaking, a Consultant on Psychiatry with the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Doctor (Mrs.) Bunmi Buhari, in her lecture titled “The Healthy Muslim”, expressed displeasure over the rate of health maintenance neglect by Muslims, noting that everyone must take his or her health as priority.
