The University of Ilorin has expressed the willingness to introduce electric bus services and intral-train to ease transportation challenges of students and staff in the University.The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Abdulwahab Egbewole stated this at an interactive Ramadan Iftar with journalists at the VC’s Lodge on the main campus in Ilorin on Monday.
According to him, aside from the effort the institution is making on railway transportation, the institution is also looking at electric bus transportation.
He said some colleagues in the Department of electrical engineering are already working on that model, noting that the university just released the Senate research grant. He said the university is hoping that part of the grant will be used to work on that model.
