Two Arrested For Claiming Ownership Of Motorcycle Abandoned By Kidnappers In Kwara

The Police in Kwara State have arraigned two suspected hoodlums at a magistrate court sitting in Ilorin for allegedly claiming ownership of a motorcycle abandoned by suspected kidnappers in the state.

They were charged with criminal conspiracy and belonging to a gang of thieves contrary to Sections 97 and 306 of the Penal Code.

The prosecutor, Gbenga Ayeni, told the court that the suspects, Oseni Abdullahi and Abubakar Manman, allegedly claimed ownership of a motorcycle abandoned by suspected kidnappers who were chased by vigilantes while planning an operation at Mahdi community, Ilorin, Kwara State.

According to the charge sheet, the vigilantes observed that around 3:00 am some suspected hoodlums were inside Mahdi community planning to perpetrate evil acts.

Led by Shakariyau Bashir, they mobilized themselves and chased the hoodlums to Okoolowo area and some of them escaped and abandoned their unregistered motorcycle.

The Sheet further stated that Oseni Abdullahi and Abubakar Manman showed up in the morning around 7 am claiming ownership of the motorcycle. The police told the court that the suspects and others at large are the suspected abductors terrorising the community.

Prosecutor, Gbenga Ayeni, objected to the bail sought by Bar SS Umar and A. Amina, counsel to the suspects.

Magistrate M.D Dasuki ruled that the defendants be remanded at the federal correctional centre and adjourned the matter to November, 14.
