Hosts Nigeria will bid to topple South Africa at the top of the medals table as the 21st edition of African Senior Athletics Championships comes to an end today at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
South Africa sit at the top of the log at the end of day four having garnered 21 medals; 6 Gold, 10 Silver and 5 Bronze medals.
Nigeria occupy second position with 14 medals; 6 Gold, 4 Silver, and 4 Bronze medals.
Team Nigeria picked two medals on day four. Chime Nwanaga Kelechi won gold for Nigeria in the women’s javelin final, while Abejoye Oyeniyi bagged silver in the men’s 110m hurdles. Kenya, Morocco and Botswana occupy the third, fourth and fifth positions respectively in the medals table.
