After the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities failed to reach an agreement to halt the ongoing industrial action embarked upon by public universities lecturers, state-owned universities have reportedly vowed to remain on strike.
Although some state universities like the Kwara State University, Lagos State University, Osun State University, Kaduna State University among others have pulled out of the strike, it was gathered that the Ekiti State University; Olabisi Onabanjo University and Tai-Solarin University of Education, Ogun State; Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Oyo state; Adekunle Ajasin University, Ondo State; among others have vowed to remain on strike.
According to the information gathered, the Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities at the Benue State University, Dr Tarnongu Kwaghfan insisted that the university will not resume class until the national secretariat of the union gives the directive.
Similarly, the ASUU chairman of Adekunle Ajasin University, Professor Simon Ehiabhi, said the association is a single entity without any division, adding that the university will not pull out of the strike.
