Some Nigerian women calls on Academic Staff Union of Universities to return to work

Some Nigerian women have called on all education stakeholders and the Academic Staff Union of Universities to save the future of Nigerian children and return to work.

In a council convention, the President of the National Council for Women Societies, Lami Adamu said the strike has jeopardised education of Nigerian children.

Speaking on the reason behind the strike, Adamu said the heart of this strike debacle is the funding of higher education and the role of government, adding that the reason for the contradiction is that Nigeria spends more than four times on higher education than it spends on basic education.

Adamu, noted that university training dwells on research that could further advance society, however, the demand does not capture this and remains a sad commentary in Nigeria’s education sector.
