Soldiers Reportedly Escape Ambush in Plateau

A team of soldiers at Zurak Kampani, Wase local government area of Plateau state have been ambushed by bandits.

According to reports the bandits came to the community when the locals were busy with market activities.

Wase Local Government Area Headquarters is 100 km drive to Zurak Kampani community.

A source told journalists that the bandits killed one soldier and injured one other, saying that the soldiers stationed in the area repelled the attack.

He stated that a day before the ambush, bandits stormed Pinau village of the same local government area, and rustled over 500 cattle.

The source lamented that Wase Communities have of recent been experiencing banditry activities, forcing many to flee their homes for safety.

However, the spokesperson of a multi-security taskforce, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), Major Ishaku Takwa, who confirmed the ambush, said no soldier was killed in the incident and explained that the taskforce has been able to maintain peace in the state.
