Shallow graves: Your allegation is ‘very suspicious’ – Ohanaeze tells DSS

Following the Department of State Services’ indictment of the Indigenous People of Biafra, in the killing of five Fulani herdsmen, the apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has urged the DSS to produce physical evidence to back its claim.Ohaneze

The DSS had alleged that IPOB was responsible for killing and burying the bodies of five Fulani herdsmen and fifty other bodies of unidentified people in a shallow grave in a forest in Isikwuato LGA of Abia state.

Subsequent to IPOB’s denial of involvement in the alleged killings, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo has also said the grave allegations made by the DSS is ‘curious and very suspicious’.

A statement was released to this effect on Wednesday, by the President General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Gary Enwo-Igariwey.

He said: “Ohanaeze is curious and very suspicious of the reasons behind the DSS statement which indicted the IPOB as responsible for the dastardly act.”

“Ndigbo demand proper investigation to ascertain those behind the heinous act. They did not act on behalf of Ndigbo and should be brought to book.”

“Ndigbo commiserate with the families of the deceased and have conveyed same to the leadership of Arewa Consultative Forum.”

“Ndigbo condemn the act of taking human life in any form anywhere in the country. As travellers to other places, Ndigbo are friendly to visitors. All Nigerians are therefore assured of their safety anywhere in Igboland.”
