The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has listed the many sins of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration and leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC) which he said culminated in his defection. Saraki, who dumped the APC for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) last month, was reacting to a statement by the APC leader Bola Tinubu.
Tinubu had in a statement on Sunday said the Senate President left because of his presidential ambition. Saraki in a statement on Monday however said the reasons advanced by Tinubu were false and mischievous.
The senate President claimed that his decision to defect from the APC to the PDP was imposed on him by certain elements and forces within the APC. He said that the forces ensured that the minimum conditions for peace, cooperation, inclusion and a general sense of belonging did not exist.
Saraki also accused the Buhari administration of consistently treating the legislature with contempt and acting as if the law making body should be an appendage of the Executive. The Senate President accused Tinubu of siding with President Buhari in his reconciliatory move rather than addressing the grievances of the members of the party.
