The Commissioner for Works (Infrastructure, Roads, Transport, Housing and Urban Development) Engineer Suleiman Rotimi Iliasu has called on all Illegal parks loading by the roadsides to move into their designated parks to further enhance sanity on our roads.
The Commissioner made this call while meeting with the Kwara State Chapter, Association of Independent Transporters (AIT) in his office.
Engineer Rotimi Stated that a Committee would be set up involving government representatives, AIT, Road, National, and other relevant stakeholders in the transport sector in order to curb security challenges and other matters concerning the transport system in the State.
Engineer Rotimi assured them of the Government’s support to enhance their businesses.
He mentioned that the State Government will collaborate with financial institutions to facilitate social investment schemes that will further boost the transport business in the State.
In his reaction, the Chairman of AIT and the Chief Executive of KASMAG Transport Service, Alh Ganiyu Omoola urged the State Government to improve in its effort to bring all private transport owners’ under one umbrella for efficient control and monitoring.
Going forward, the Ministry of Works will commence work on color permit and a new hacking permit with barcode for easy identification of transport operators in the State, this is targeted at the safety of our people.
In his contribution, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Works, Dr. Yusuf Garba Manjo implored the transporters to be law abiding and continue the partnership with the state.
He emphasized that the Ministry would soon embark on raiding the Illegal loading parks and urged them to move to the approved parks immediately.
