Armed robbers attacked a Hausa trader at the Oke-Sokori axis of Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, on Friday. The robbers reportedly carted away a substantial amount of foreign currency loaded in two ‘Ghana must go’ bags.
Narrating the incident, the victim said he had earlier approached a bank at Oke-Ilewo to deposit the money but was turned back because the bank had closed. He said it was on his way home that he was attacked.
Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and said operatives of the command were already trailing the criminals.
