In the wake of the recent surge in violence leading to at least 30 casualties in Plateau State, the House of Representatives has announced plans to convene a security summit.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, expressed deep concern over the recurring attacks in Plateau State. In a statement released on Thursday by his media aide, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, Tajudeen condemned the violence in the strongest terms. The Speaker hinted that the House would adopt a robust stance when it resumes from the Christmas and New Year break on Tuesday, January 30.
Meanwhile, the military has attributed the crisis in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State to a combination of factors, including attempted cattle rustling and the killing of a Mangu resident by herder militia.
RoyalTimes gathered Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, shared this information during a news conference in Abuja on Thursday. General Buba assured that special forces have been deployed to hotspots in the state to contain the situation.
