As the deadline for the 2022 admissions by the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board draws nearer, public universities in Nigeria with outstanding admissions have been said to have planned to merge 2022/2023 admissions.
Recall that the Joint Admission Matriculation Board had during the 2022 policy meeting held in Abuja fixed December 31, 2022 as deadline for the conduct of the 2022/2023 admissions.
Speaking with Journalists, the Secretary-General of the Committee of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities, Professor Yakubu Ochefu confirmed the decision of the universities to merge the admission, citing the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities as a determining factor for the delayed admission.
Reports revealed that about four hundred thousand admission quotas were not utilised by universities during the 2021/2022 admission session; while data from JAMB also revealed that there were lots of outstanding admissions from the 2020/2021 session.
