President Muhammadu Buhari will proceed on a 10-day holiday to London on Friday. Femi Adesina, presidential spokesman ,announced this in a statement on Wednesday. He said Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo will be in charge of the country during the period. According to Adesina, the president will leave for London on Friday, August 3, and vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, will assume his executive role as Acting President. Adesina said the president had informed the leadership of the national assembly about his trip.
Last year, Buhari spent a total of 152 days in London in the course of medical treatment. His absence sparked speculations about his health but when he returned Buhari said he was prepared to continue doing the job Nigerians elected him to do. Buhari is seeking another term next year but his opponents have asked him not to run, citing his health condition as one of the reasons.
