President Buhari approves allowance for retired soldiers

Following a nationwide protest by retired military personnel earlier in the year, President Muhammadu Buhari has now approved the payment of debarment allowance for the military veterans.

While addressing journalists in Abuja, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Dr. Ibrahim Kana said the President has given approval for reform of the Ministry of Defence into its own Pentagon, adding that this will the deployment of senior military officers to work alongside civilian staff.

The Permanent Secretary also revealed that there will be a reform of the Military Health Services Department to provide quality health service to military personnel.

He added that efforts are also ongoing to reform the military education in the command and secondary schools.
