Pensioners urge Kwara Government to use second Paris fund for pension arrears

The Kwara state branch of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners has appealed to the state Government to use the second batch of the Paris refund for the liquidation of the nine months pension’s arrears of retirees from the sixteen Local councils of the state.

Making the appeal in a statement signed by the Chairman of the Union, Alhaji Mohammed Haliru and the state Secretary, Mr Samuel lbidoja, the union said the total indebtedness to retires now stands at five billion naira.

The statement said the pensioners are now dying of hunger. It noted that the unpaid pensions and gratuities to Local Government Pensioners in the state have created untold hardship for the pensioners.

The Pensioners appealed to Governor Ahmed to come to the aid of Local Government Pensioners in the state in order for them to live a meaningful life like their counterparts in the state.
