Pensioners in Ekiti State University cry for help over unpaid gratuity, delayed pensions

The Nigerian Universities Pensioners Association, Ekiti State University (EKSU) has appealed to the Institution’s management to pay its fifteen years gratuity and five months pension arrears.

The chairman of the Association, Samuel AKINWALE who made the call at a press conference in Ado, also called on the state government to intervene in the matter.

Akinwale explained that the fifteen years gratuity which was over N1.5 billion was taking its toll on members as some of the beneficiaries of the said money are either dead or chronically ill.

He also acknowledged that the said salaries might not be unconnected with the ongoing strike by the academic staff union of universities (ASUU) but appealed to the university’s management to consider the pensioners as they were not on strike but retired.
