The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Kwara State Police Command has decorated the Chairman, Kwara State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Abdullateef ‘Lanre Ahmed, as one of the Patrons of the committee in the state.
Others bestowed with the same honour include Secretary to the State Government, Professor Mamman Saaba Jibril; State Commissioner for Energy, Lafia Sabi Kora; Chairman, State Chapter of Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), AbdulRahman Olayinka Onikijipa.
The colourful ceremony held at the Police Officers’ Mess, Ahman Pategi Road, GRA, Ilorin.

The state PCRC Chairman, Adebayo Lawal, said the honorees were chosen based on their selfless services and individual contributions to ensuring peaceful society.
He urged the PCRC Patrons to sustain the merit upon which they were selected and do more in the efforts to rid the state of criminal elements.
The state Commissioner of Police, Tuesday Assayomo, expressed his delight over the array of individuals selected as Patrons of the committee, saying that their contributions would go a long way to help minimize crime in the state.
He also used the opportunity to dismiss as untrue the insinuation that bandits and kidnappers had relocated to the state following their dislodgement from neighbouring states.
Assayomo said his command was deploying all available resources to ensure that the people of Kwara sleep with their two eyes closed in the night devoid of fear and anxiety.
He called for greater collaboration between the police and the society with a view to curbing the menace of insecurity.
Responding, the Chairman, Kwara NUJ, Abdullateef ‘Lanre Ahmed, said the preponderance of sundry crime and criminality in recent times has remained a source of worry to all stakeholders and challenged security agencies including the civil authorities to rise to the occasion.

Ahmed advocated adequate intelligence gathering to enable police force prevent crime before it occurs.
The NUJ Chairman, who thanked the PCRC for deeming it fit to appoint him and others as Patrons, assured that the media in the state would support the cause of the committee for peaceful coexistence among the populace.
