Ortom tells PDP not to interfere in appointment of his commissioners

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has called on his party, the Peoples Democratic Party not to interfere in the composition of his cabinet. Ortom stated this during the meeting of PDP caucus held at the new Banquet Hall of the Government House, Makurdi today.

The governor stressed that the appeal became necessary to enable him check periodically on those who would form his cabinet so as to put them on their toes to effectively perform their functions.

Also, he intimated that he will appoint only technocrats and experts in various fields into his cabinet to help him deliver the dividends of democracy to the electorate on his second mandate already counting.

The governor also sounded notes of warning to potential members of his cabinet. He said that they risked been sacked the next day if they are found wanting in the discharge of their duty.

The governor announced that his cabinet will be made up of 15 commissioners drawn from the three zones of the state. Ortom pledged to treat party members fairly.
