Kwara State has been considered alongside three others to benefit from the new Open Parly Nigeria project. The project hopes to mobilize youths to influence and promote transparency and accountability of the state government with focus on the state Houses of Assembly. Other states are Oyo, Kano and Kaduna.
Speaking at a press conference to herald the project on Thursday in Abuja, the Chief Executive officer, Connected Development, CODE, Hamzat Lawal, said the aim of Open Parly Nigeria is to avail the citizens knowledge about lawmakers representing their constituents, their responsibilities, close the information gap between these representative and the people as well as report happenings at the chambers.
The year long project is organized by CODE in partnership with Magamba Network in Zimbabwe with support from National Endowment for Democracy, NED.
