The candidate of the All Progressive Congress bidding for Kwara central senatorial seat, Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe has expressed gratitude to the people of Ilorin and Kwara at large for their massive turnout to welcome and participate in the launching of the federal government poverty alleviation program termed ‘Tradermoney’ for the average and poor business women and men.
In a statement issued on Friday, Oloriegbe reiterated that the massive turnout in Ilorin on Friday, showed that the people of Ilorin are overwhelmingly ready to bring the desired change in Ilorin and Kwara at large. He urges the people to translate this love and desire in the coming general election for APC come February 2019.
He however cautioned the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki and his elements in the Kwara state government not to play partisan politics with the masses’ life. He noted that the initiative ‘Tradermoni’ is a federal government initiative agreed to by all state governments including the National assembly and should not be seen as a tool of buying votes.
While noting that majority of Kwarans are in abject poverty, and that the major profession in Kwara asides civil service is business and farming, Oloriegbe questioned why a government that claims to care about the welfare of its people will scorn the Tradermoni opportunity which aims to alleviate the people’s poverty.
He however call on the federal government to continue to provide the necessary protection for the people of Kwara to avoid any form of intimidations during the coming general election.
