NUJ Chairmanship hopeful, Akogun pledges to partner Kwara Govt if elected

A chairmanship candidate for the July 10th Kwara Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) elections, Dare Akogun, has said there is no way the body can function properly without the support of the host state government.

Akogun said this on Monday at the flag-off of his campaign at the Correspondents Chapel while reacting to questions from the members.

The chairmanship hopeful who arrived the chapel with his team and melodious gang, said if elected, he will be partner in progress with the Kwara State Government.

He said he is seeking to be the chairman of the state council of NUJ not to present himself as the best, but rather to render himself as a servant to be used to run things in proper perspective.

“I believe the current exco have done their best within their ability, God knows, we all have our limitations.

“However where they erred, I have decided to make corrections, so that we can at least have a desired change for a Council of our dream.

“If I have your mandate to lead this Council as Chairman, i promise to run an all inclusive government in which all the executives and members will be responsible for the success of our mission statement and the vision i have for the council in the next three years” Akogun said.

The ‘Radio General’ as he is foldly called said welfare of members shall be his prime focus as well as all other requirements that will make members walk tall in the state and the country as a whole, and be proud to call the union their own, wherever they find themselves.

“If i have your mandate, our administration shall take care of the interest of the correspondents’ by making sure we have an Ex Officio member from among you” He said.
