An academic and consultant, Dr Ayinde Yusuf has stressed the need for women to build their level of confidence and Can-do ability in order to be given the chance in governance and leadership participation.
This, he said calls for gradual participation in activities of decision making, knowledge broadening, and skill acquisitions which must be improved from time to time.
Dr Yusuf spoke while delivering his paper on Training on Monitoring and Evaluation for Women with political ambition. The training was organized by the Nuhu Fatimoh, NUFAT Foundation, with support from Global Affairs Canada and ActionAids.
Yusuf, who noted that political aspiration, is a gradual journey that culminates with the electoral outcome, admonished women to get it right by taking the right decisions preparatory to the political process and evaluating their actions to be sure they are on the right track.
The Chief Executive Officer, NUFAT foundation, Dr Ayinke Saka, said having organized workshops, trainings and empowerment programs for the women, especially those with political ambitions, the program aims at evaluating how much they have learnt and how far they have gone with their aspirations.
Participants at the training commended the organizers for stimulating women to take active part in politics and broaden their knowledge on how to monitor and evaluate their actions always.
Political Badmus Yinka Ramat, a Woman leader in the All Progressive Congress, APC, Ilorin West local government, lauded NUFAT foundation for the training.
She said they hope to go back to their political circle to share what they have learnt with others.
