No going back on clamour for LG autonomy – NULGE

The National President, Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, Ambali Olatunji, has said the organisation will continue its demand for local government autonomy despite the alleged opposition from some governors.

Olatunji expressed this continuous demand would receive favourable consideration during the emergency meeting with the 36 state governors and state assemblies’ speakers on Friday.

NULGE president noted that the LG autonomy would be discussed at the meeting, stressing that his association would not relent until the local councils are granted full autonomy.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, Olatunji affirmed that NUGLE and the organised labour will continue to mount pressure on the state Houses of Assembly to “do the right thing by standing with Nigerians’ popular demand at this critical period when the country is faced with myriads of problems, and not give in to blackmail by the governors
